Fall Fashion 2012 Trends: Part One

By Bonny Osterhage

After several seasons of what seemed to be the “same old, same old,” the looks for Fall are as cool and colorful as the season, itself. You can almost feel the excitement in the air as women are trading in their sandals for smoking slippers and embracing the best of what Fall fashion has to offer, including interesting patterns, new twists on florals, and cuts that run the gamut from form fitting to full. We found so many excellent on trend eco friendly clothes and accessories, that we are splitting them into two features. Look for part deux in the next issue. Happy Fall!

Skirts are literally coming full circle, and this skirt illustrates the look beautifully in a seasonally perfect shade of copper. Hand loomed and fully lined, the drape of this virgin merino wool skirt is slightly longer in the front, which allows it to move freely as you move. In fact, we dare you not to twirl! $258 at www.junoandjove.com.

Black and gold are the new Cookies and Cream, PB and J, Mac and Cheese – well, you see where we are going with this. This glam color combo is one of Fall’s finest, and we love the way it’s incorporated in this super sexy pump, with its sky-high, gold metal, 4-inch heel. We know the price is a bit, well, spectacular, but c’mon – so’s the shoe! $995 at www.net-a-porter.com.

Stella McCartney Black and Gold Pumps

Glitz and glamour are making the season bright with bejeweled clothing that can be worn both day and night. We like this silk blouse for the way it subtly shimmers without making you look like a walking disco ball. Try it with jeans for a night out with the gals, or a pencil skirt for those times you mean business. $145 at www.kaightshop.com.

If you think flowers are just for spring, then you haven’t seen the dark side of florals. This new twist on a standard trend illustrates the femininity, but in more seasonally appropriate hues. This silk dress captures the look perfectly with delicate blooms against a toffee background. Lovely! $248 at www.hessnatur.com.

When we say Chevron is huge, we aren’t talking about the gas station. It’s really just a fancy way of saying zig zags, like the ones on this casually chic silk dress. With a print like this, the cut stays simple and loose with a flattering neck and fit throughout. A wonderful transitional piece to add to your wardrobe. $224 at www.revolveclothing.com.
